Barry Houng worked as the general manager in a famous travel agency in Taiwan for 25 years. In the early days, he was one of the few vendors that promoted and at the same time sold cruise tours in Taiwan. Houng is thus rich in practical experiences in cruise tours. After retirement, he turned to academic field by teaching tourism-related courses including cruise tours at schools. He was the section head of Practical Training and Career Services Section of National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism for 3 years. In his tenure, he was responsible for students’ practical training and employment guidance trying to bridge the gap between school training and industry. Now, while continuing his teaching career at schools, Houng also joins the efforts in training talents for tourism. He is also working as a training adviser for the International Cruise Council Taiwan, aiming to continue to contribute what he has learned to the industry and the society.
