Chief Executive Officer, Gold Coast Tourism Corporation


Martin’s career in the tourism industry has spanned more than 40 years during which time he has held senior executive and industry leadership positions in Europe, South America and Australia.

For the past 8 years Martin has been Chief Executive Officer of Australia’s largest private-sector tourism destination marketing company, Gold Coast Tourism Corporation (GCT), and until recently was a director of the International Conference and Congress Association as Chairman of its Asia/Pacific chapter.

Prior to joining GCT, Martin was Chief Executive Officer of the Adelaide Convention & Tourism Authority, and before this, International Vice President (Marketing) with Le Cordon Blue, the Paris - based hotel and gastronomy sector multinational.

Martin is a former Professor at Brazil’s national university - Universidade de Brasilia, and amongst many Australian offices held, has been President of the Australian Association of Convention Bureaus, Chairman of the Regional Tourism Boards of both South Australia and Queensland, and was the inaugural Chairman of Conventions Australia.

Martin holds a Masters degree in Management and was honored by Southern Cross University as Alumnus of the Year in 2011. In recognition of his work in the international meetings industry Martin was one of three global leaders inducted into the IMEX Academy in Frankfurt in 2014.
