Professor Ming-Sean Chou is major in both chemical and environmental engineering sciences and technologies. In the past (since 1978) thirty-eight years, he devoted in developing anaerobic wastewater treatment and air-pollution control technologies and facilities. He designed the first full-scale UASB reactor (250 m3 in volume) in Taiwan for treating food-processing wastewater in 1984, and the reactor is still in operation at the present time. In these years, Chou also developed technologies and facilities for treating waste gases containing volatile organic compounds (VOCs), nitrogen dioxide, sulfur oxides, hydrogen sulfide, and ammonia. Over 20 full-scale facilities designed by Chou for treating waste gases were set up and in operation. Chou will devote his full life to get a cleaner environment for Taiwan.
