Chiba is an internationalized prefecture which has been opened to the world through such international facilities as Narita International Airport, the gateway to Japan, Makuhari Messe, one of the most prominent convention centers in Asia, Kazusa DNA Resarch Institute, a world leader in cutting edge research, and Tokyo Disney Resort, whose two theme parks draw in 26 million patrons each year.
Chiba also has a strong industrial base comprised of the Port of Chiba and the Keiyo Coastline Industrial Belt, which stretch out along the bay area. Furthermore our highway system, including the Tokyo Bay Aqualine, connects Chiba with the greater metropolitan area as well as the whole of Japan.
On the other hand, blessed with many beautiful natural areas surrounded by oceans and rivers that provide an abundance of fresh, delicious food, Chiba Prefecture is one of the leading producers of agricultural, forest, and fish products in Japan.
